If the exact release time, disposition code, or destination is needed, identify the person and custody episode in writing.

Request Morris 24-Hour Releases
A request should describe an exact interval in Eastern Time. Use both endpoints, such as midnight on one date through midnight on the next date. It does not direct staff to research names or create a new list.

Confirm Morris County Release Status

Disappearance from Morris County custody can mean community release, transfer to NJDOC, movement on a federal writ, hospital transfer, or delivery to another authority. VINE data may lag, and NJDOC dates can reflect a different custody episode. Prefer the Morris record for the time the jail’s custody ended, the court record for the legal order, and the receiving agency for what happened next.

Getting Home After Morris Release
A record showing community release does not establish that a ride was supplied. Morris County’s official transportation page lists NJ Transit routes 871, 872, 873, 874, and 875 as serving Morristown. It also gives NJ Transit’s information number, 973-275-5555. The county does not document a jail-door pickup point or a special correctional release ride.
Families should use the live trip planner from the Morris County Correctional Facility address at 43 John Street, Morristown, rather than assume a route stops at the gate. Confirm the discharge event first, then check current transit service and arrange a safe pickup point. A transfer record calls for a different plan because the person may be going to NJDOC, ICE, another county, or a federal authority instead of entering the community.

Morris Pretrial Release Is Different
“Bonded out” can be the wrong shorthand in Morris County. New Jersey’s pretrial system has been chiefly risk-and-conditions based since January 1, 2017. Unless the prosecutor seeks detention, the first-appearance and release decision is ordinarily made within 48 hours. A narrow 2026 firearm-analysis rule can extend the period only as reasonably needed, up to seven days.
For that reason, the court record may describe conditions of release rather than a cash-bail event. Check the Judiciary disposition and the Morris discharge entry together. The order shows the legal decision. The jail record shows when processing ended. Neither should be replaced with an assumption based only on the person no longer appearing in custody data.

Why Morris Release Records Persist
Morris County has no official public 24-hour web window, but New Jersey’s county detention retention schedule recognizes electronic daily Population, Commitment, and Discharge Reports. The electronic daily discharge-report series has a three-year minimum. That rule concerns record management. It does not promise web access, prove that every jail uses the same software, or make every field public.
NJDOC follows a different web-visibility rule. Most completed state custodial records are removed from its online search one year after the maximum or mandatory parole supervision term ends. Certain community or parole supervision entries may remain because those terms lack a fixed completion date. Online absence therefore says little unless the user knows which agency held the person and how much time has passed.
Morris Sheriff App Release Check
The Sheriff launched the free “Morris County Sheriff, NJ” mobile app in January 2024 for iOS and Android. Its official announcement lists an Inmate Information feature, along with contacts, sex-offender information, and news or alerts. The announcement does not say the app offers a released tab, a booking-photo archive, a 24-hour window, or a set refresh schedule.
Treat the app as a channel to test, not as a confirmed same-day release archive. Record what the current version shows. If it provides only current custody or routes users to contacts, that result cannot be relabeled as a released-inmate feed.
